Ethically sourced and carefully handcrafted, this Round Trio Cluster Ring from our Asterism collection features Australian sapphires with marine diamonds in hand-drawn 18ct gold.

We searched long and hard to find these responsibly sourced sapphires and diamonds from gemstone partners whose ethical values align with our own. Individually selected for their earthy tones and radiance, these special gemstones make each piece unique.

Whatever the size, Ocean Diamonds provides provenance of these earth made diamonds procured with very little environmental impact. The Central Queensland come with complete supply chain transparency and high standard in working environment all along the way.

The gold undergoes a long process of being drawn into wire and meticulously assembled, a technique that ensures both strength and durability for these delicate designs.

Selecting

The making process starts by carefully grouping the sapphires with diamonds into complimentary clusters.

Annealing

The metalwork begins by heating an ingot of 18ct gold to annealing temperature so it is a softened state for forging.

Milling and Drawing

Using the rolling mill we shape the gold into a square form, reannealing the metal as soon as it work-hardens. During this process, the gold will be annealed and rolled through the mill around 20 times.

Once the gold is close to the gauge of round wire we need it is then shaped using the draw bench. The metal plate has ever decreasing holes which further reduces the width and also increases the length. The wire will be repeatedly annealed and drawn 10-20 times.

Forming

The wire is shaped into circles to form the band of the ring and also the seats for the gemstone settings.

Soldering

Once all the components are made we can then start assembling them. After this the gemstones are set and the final satin finish is applied to the surface of the gold.
